As I sit down to write this week, I keep returning to a single word that quietly threads itself through everything we do: gratitude. All of us at Thomson Financial Partners feel deeply appreciative of the remarkable people we have the privilege of working for… you, our clients.

Since 1965, Ted has set the tone for what our business aspires to be: relationships grounded in trust, mutual understanding, and a shared belief that when your goals are achieved, our business naturally grows through deeper and more meaningful connections. Incredibly, some of the relationships he began all those years ago continue with us today, often through the next two generations. That continuity is a gift we never take for granted.

We are sincerely thankful for the opportunity to walk alongside you through celebrations and setbacks, calm markets and turbulent stretches. Success is rarely a smooth, freshly paved highway; it is more often a winding backroad with twists, potholes and the occasional detour. Each of those bends has taught us invaluable lessons about how to navigate uncertainty, and what to do (and not do) when the landscape turns unfavourable.

Through every conversation, milestone, and market moment, we are honoured to support your financial journey. Your goals, dreams, and aspirations motivate the work we do each day — and we genuinely thank you for allowing us to be part of your story. Your partnership has remained our greatest privilege.

Rob, Chris and I also want to express heartfelt thanks to our extraordinary team. Rarely does a day pass without someone asking us to extend their appreciation to Kerry, Bev, Julie, Sara, Patti, Natasha and Jen.

They make our days run smoothly, and truly, we couldn’t do what we do without them. Words will always fall short of how grateful we are for their care, talent and dedication, and we know many of you feel the same.

Shiv has now fully settled in, and we know many of you have been enjoying his thoughtful commentaries. He approaches the industry with a student’s curiosity and a relentless appetite for understanding. His presence enriches our discussions, keeping our thinking fresh and our perspectives evolving.

Mat, drawing on his advisory experience at the bank, is embracing the TFP way. From the start, he was a natural fit: people-focused, independent in thought, and eager to build genuine relationships rather than follow institutional scripts. Seven months into his journey, the outlook is very bright.

On behalf of all of us, we wish you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season filled with warmth, rest, and meaningful moments.

And now, in the spirit of the season and with a smile toward the holidays, I’ll leave you with an attempt at a Canadian financial advisor’s ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas…

—————

’Twas the night before year-end, when across the whole floor,
Not a client was calling, not one email more.
The planning was finished, the binders all stacked,
Each spreadsheet behaving, each forecast exact.

Chris guarded the calendars, tidy and tight,
While Rob tuned the models to balance just right.
Shiv triple-checked every goal-setting sheet,
And Mat brewed the coffee that powered the feat.

Kerry kept budgets as neat as fresh snow,
While Bev made compliance less scary to know.
Julie smoothed workflows that once zigged and zagged,
And Sara ensured not a single task lagged.

Patti sent updates in warm northern prose,
Natasha caught errors no mortal could pose.
Jen tidied the numbers with detail profound,
While Eric steered the sleigh with a seasoned hand found.

The moon on the lake cast a shimmery glow,
Turning ledgers to silver in soft winter flow.
The office fell quiet, a calm, gentle hush,
As year-end approached with its annual rush.

Then through the still night came a rustle of cheer,
A whisper of futures bright-sparkling next year.
Not magic exactly, though close to the mark…
Just a team built for guidance through blizzard or dark.

For in Northern Ontario, where the pine forests gleam,
A practice runs steady like a true northern beam.
With planning, with purpose, with heart stitched in place,
They help every family find financial grace.

And I heard them exclaim as they powered down lights,
“Happy year-end to all, and to all clearer sights!
May portfolios prosper, may goals stay in view,
And may next year bring wonder for clients—and you!”
